Hattiesburg, Laurel mayors discuss South State Championship matchup

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Laurel and Hattiesburg will meet for a rematch of the Lil' Brown Jug rivalry game, but this time, the Class 5A South State Championship and a trip to the state title game are on the line. WDAM caught up with both cities' mayors to see what they had to say about the game.

Hattiesburg won the regular season matchup for the third year in a row, claiming the Lil' Brown Jug, but Laurel has eliminated the Tigers from the playoffs in the past two years.

The two will meet Friday night at D.I. Patrick Stadium in Hattiesburg at 7 p.m. Tickets will be $10 and can be bought in advance at the HHS Home Ticket Booth at the stadium from 12 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday leading up to the game.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. on Friday night.
