Petal School District recognized by Forrest County Board of Supervisors

FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Board of Supervisors recognized the Petal School District during Monday's meeting.

Board President David Hogan read a proclamation honoring them as the number one district in the state.

The school was at the top in the rankings released by the Mississippi Department of Education in October.

The school district was one of only fifteen districts to receive the "A" grade rating.

"We're very excited about our ranking as far as being the number one district in the state," said Petal School District superintendent Matthew Dillon. "Our people have worked extremely hard, from our faculty staff and students to the community and parents. So it's a special time in the life of our district to be able to celebrate the success that we have had and of course we want to continue to build upon it."
