The Saints scored 15 unanswered points late in the contest to send their matchup with Washington to overtime.
A quick look at the benches starting the extra period showed one elated (Saints), other deflated (Washington). It appeared Jay Gruden's squad owned a victory, but it fell apart. A Wil Lutz 28-yard field goal ended the crazy comeback.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees could see the tide turn in the Black and Gold's favor.
"We knew it was an uphill battle there, down 15 points, starting that drive with five and a half minutes left. (We) felt like we could move the ball down and score, and see where this thing goes. Defense makes a big stop, we go down and get another one, get the two-point conversion. Once we got to OT, we felt momentum was on our side, we're going to win this thing," said Brees.
