Part of one lane of I-59 in Jones County closed after 18 wheeler accident

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A portion of one lane of Interstate 59 in Jones County will be closed until further notice, after an 18 wheeler hit a bridge and flipped over Saturday night.      

It happened at the Sanford Road Exit just after 7:30 p.m. 

The Mississippi Highway Patrol said the 18 wheeler, which was carrying produce, was traveling northbound when it went through the bridge siding and overturned. 

The driver and three children who were in the truck were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The Highway Patrol said because of bridge damage, the right lane around the accident site will be closed until it can be repaired. 

The left lane will remain open to traffic.

    Joe Hartfield is in his 12th season as the head coach of Hattiesburg High Baseball, and the Tigers are district champions for the third straight year. Even with all the success, Hartfield is very fortunate to be out there coaching this season.
