Laurel High School is heading back to the south state championship game. The Tornadoes defeated Brookhaven Friday, 26-22.
The Panthers got on the board first to take a 3-0 lead, but Laurel responded, though, with 14 unanswered points.
A Zias Perryman touchdown run made it 14-6.
Brookhaven came back and Laurel trailed 22 - 14 in the final minutes. The Tornadoes scored, but failed to convert a two-point try and trailed 22-20 before recovering an onside kick. Laurel drove down the field and scored a touchdown with eight seconds remaining and held on to win 26-22.
The win sets up a Laurel and Hattiesburg south state championship game. The game will be played at D.I. Patrick Stadium in Hattiesburg and admission will be $10.
