LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - The Laurel Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated partnered with S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Discoveries to host Stepping up with S.T.E.M.
Over 40 youth from the Laurel/Jones County area participated in the daylong event.
Organizers says the youth event was designed to "expose, promote, and encourage middle and high school students to the power of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math."
Students engaged in activities that allowed them to use computers to program video games and solve a mock crime scene mystery using clues, evidence, and chemistry.
This is the first S.T.E.M event that the Laurel Chapter has done but they say they plan to do more in the near future.
