PINE BELT (WDAM) - Three Pine Belt Marines who were awarded the nation's highest honor for military service were honored Saturday on Veteran's Day.
The Marine Corps League replaced American and Marine Corps flags at the graves of Medal of Honor recipients Jack Lucas and Roy Wheat.
The group also placed a wreath at the grave of a third Medal of Honor recipient, Henry Commiskey.
Prayers were also said and Taps was played.
Members of the organization say they do this on both Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
"It's definitely an honor," said Clifton Addison, senior vice commandant for Detachment 1073 of the Marine Corps League. "We've got Medal of Honor winners here that put their lives on the line and went above and beyond the call of duty to actually receive the Medal of Honor, so it's just something we can do to honor them each year, twice a year for them."
Saturday night, the Marine Corps League hosted an annual ball at St. Thomas Church in Hattiesburg.
