LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - The Board of Trustees for the Laurel School District has narrowed its superintendent search to eight finalists and scheduled interviews that will be open to the public.
Individuals can submit questions by noon Tuesday, Nov. 14 for consideration, and those that attend the interview will not be allowed to ask questions due to the interview time frame, according to a district press release. Questions can be emailed to email@example.com.
All submitted questions must include name and address, and anonymous questions will not be accepted.
"We want public involvement by allowing citizens to submit questions, and listen to the interview process," said Board President Miranda Beard. "Each candidate is given approximately 45 minutes, and it would take too long to allow everyone in attendance to speak. Those in attendance may sit in and listen, but will not be allowed to ask questions during the interviews. All questions must be submitted."
Interviews will be held on Thursday, Nov. 16 and Friday, Nov. 17, with interviews beginning at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. each day. The interviews will be held at the Gardiner Administration Building located at 303 West 8th Street in Laurel.
Twenty-two applications were received in all. Among the applicants were seven principals, four curriculum directors, four assistant superintendents and seven former superintendents, with applications received from residents of Mississippi, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas.
