Jim Henderson's Black & Gold Breakdown: Saints at Bills

Second hottest team in the NFL were to be cooled off, Buffalo in November looms as a reasonable possibility. But then again, nothing short of a sub-zero freezer might cool off the New Orleans Saints.

But as winners of six in a row, they come into new era field wary of the environment and the challenge they face therein. The Bills are 5 and 3, 4 and 0 at home where they are the only unbeaten team in the AFC on their home turf. The Bills close out their series against the NFC South having defeated the Bucs and Falcons while losing to the Panthers.

And they do so with the benefit of 10 days rest. They probably needed that. In their last game on Thursday night Nov. 2 they were embarassed by the jets, 34-21.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor was sacked seven times in that loss while the bills gave up 194 yards and 3 touchdowns defending the run. Taylor and Drew Brees present an interesting comparison. Both among the smallest quarterbacks in the league. Both taking judicious care of the football to date.

Taylor has only thrown two interceptions this season and at 1.3 percent, has the lowest interception percentage in NFL history. Against the blitz this season, Taylor has the highest passer rating in the NFL.

Brees is on track for a career-low nine picks this season.

Each will be facing an emerging star in the opposition's rookie cornerback.  LSU's Tre'davious White was the AFC's defensive rookie of the month of September. The Saints’ Marshon Lattimore was the NFC's defensive rookie of the month of October.

Test them if you choose at your peril.
