JCJC holds annual Math League Playoffs

ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - The Jones County Junior College's Bobcat Math League Playoffs for the Super Bowl Championship took place on Wednesday, November 8th on campus in Ellisville.

After weeks of regular season competition and a shootout round, the top teams competed for cash prizes, scholarships and most of all, bragging rights.

The competition focuses on academic talents of the Pine Belt's brightest math students.

Dr. Jessica Bunch, JCJC League Commissioner, says the event is very successful in the student's lives.

"Some of the students who have gone through the Bobcat Math League or the one day Math Bowl Competition," Bunch said, "We have heard how they have advanced through their college educational career to become very much leaders."

Peter Lang from Oak Grove was the overall outstanding player and won a laptop computer from Howard Industries.
