JCJC instructor named Humanities Teacher of the Year

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A local educator has been named Humanities Teacher of the Year.

Dr. Stacy Ruth, a Sociology Teacher at Jones County Junior College, was chosen for the prestigious honor.

During the ceremony, Ruth gave a presentation of "The Evolution of the Family Through Animation."  The theme was how cartoons have reflected family values through the years.

Dr. Ruth said she was thrilled after receiving the news of the award.

"It's great to know that people recognize your work and people recognize your love for teaching and there's no doubt that I love teaching," Dr. Ruth said. "I love the kids and to think the administration and my colleagues felt that I was worthy of such an award and I'm thrilled and excited about the opportunity."

In February there will be a formal dinner in Jackson for all the Humanities winners from across the state.
