JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Investigators are looking into the shooting deaths of two men by Mississippi police over the weekend.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking into both cases; the officers involved are both on leave.
Local media report Patrolman Jared Booth shot 24-year-old Raymond Davis on Saturday outside a Columbus nightclub. City officials say Booth's body camera video showed Davis holding a gun. Booth is white; Davis was black.
Meridian police did not immediately release the name or race of the officer who killed a white man in a shootout Sunday. The coroner says the man killed was not carrying identification.
Meridian police received a call that the man had abducted a woman. The man fired at the officer who responded, wounding him. The officer has been released from a hospital.
