2 men in Mississippi shot to death by police during weekend

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Investigators are looking into the shooting deaths of two men by Mississippi police over the weekend.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking into both cases; the officers involved are both on leave.

Local media report Patrolman Jared Booth shot 24-year-old Raymond Davis on Saturday outside a Columbus nightclub. City officials say Booth's body camera video showed Davis holding a gun. Booth is white; Davis was black.

Meridian police did not immediately release the name or race of the officer who killed a white man in a shootout Sunday. The coroner says the man killed was not carrying identification.

Meridian police received a call that the man had abducted a woman. The man fired at the officer who responded, wounding him. The officer has been released from a hospital.
