MS Superintendents' group hosts first new teacher conference

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Nearly 200 new school teachers from central and south Mississippi gathered at the University of Southern Mississippi Thursday to network and learn new skills to help them become better educators.

The first New Teacher Conference at the Thad Cochran Center was sponsored by the Mississippi Superintendents' Collaborative.

Teachers took part in breakout sessions focusing on topics like effective communication, effective classroom management and how to find the right instructional and supporting resources.

Speakers included Mississippi Teacher of the year Luke Daniels.

The MS Superintendents' Collaborative is made up of nine districts.
