PETAL, MS (WDAM) -

The new Petal phone app is now available to download on your phone or tablet.

Available for both the iPhone and Android devices, you can find the app in your app store by searching “SeeClickFix."

Once downloaded from the app store, simply allow it to search your location or use your zip code. Choose Petal from the available options, and you’re connected. Once in the app, you will find ways to report problems that need to be addressed, pay a utility bill or receive alerts from the city.

Petal Mayor Hal Marx said this is a way for Petal residents to stay in touch with city leaders while also giving them tools to help the city run more efficiently.

“They don’t have to talk to anybody, they don’t have to call us, they just click a button and put in the problem and it goes straight to us, we will then acknowledge that we received the complaint,” Marx said. “It will be assigned to someone to correct and then they’ll be notified when we do correct the problem, as mayor, I’ll be able to call those notifications up and see how long it’s taking our employees to respond to those problems, how many problems we have outstanding, it’ll give us a breakdown on what parts of the city we’re having certain issues, more water leaks, more pot-holes, things like that.”

The “SeeFixClick” app is free to download and also offers options to connect on Facebook as well as other municipal websites. You can download the app here.
