JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Eastabuchie Utility Association has plans provide better water for residents in its service area.
The Board President said the association will be installing a type of treatment in the coming weeks, all in an effort to improve water quality.
Just this week, a water main leak caused flooding to one yard off Highway 11 in Jones County. Not only is the team working to repair water main leaks in a timely manner, it's also working to solve water quality problems that create some discoloration associated with iron and manganese.
After approval from the board, installation will start regarding the polyphosphate treatment. This will be done to two wells in the next few weeks. The purpose is to help improve the water quality related to minerals flowing.
During this time customers might experience an increase in discolored water. However, once the water is balanced across the system, residents will notice clearer water.
Until that time, it's important to flush your inside water lines at each faucet and recommended to be done after removing the aerator on the end of your faucet. It's also recommended to flush or drain your water heater.
The process should be completed by the end of November.
