HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Mississippi Walk for Diabetes was held Sunday at the Longleaf Trace to raise awareness regarding diabetes.
The walk included a "family fun walk" and a 3.1 mile/5K route. There was music, a picnic, kid's activities and more.
According to organizers, the walk was being held in honor of members of the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi Board and longtime supporters – Dr. Jaime Jimenez of Southern Eye Center, Dr. Dan McCall of Forrest General Hospital, Diabetes Diplomat and Kandu Kid Maddy Mayfield, and Transportation Commissioner – Southern District Tom King.
Organizers says that every dollar raised stays in Mississippi to fund programs and services of the Diabetes Foundations of Mississippi.
