HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Some Hattiesburg children Tuesday got some free trick or treat bags that will keep them safe as they celebrate Halloween.

Children at Woodley and Hawkins elementary schools got reflective bags with safety tips on them, courtesy of attorney Richard Schwartz and McGruff the Crime Dog.

Schwartz also spoke to children about holiday safety and McGruff gave hugs and high-fives to kids who promised to be safe.

"We make sure the children promise to show the parents these tips," said Schwartz.

"We're so appreciative that we have the opportunity to give them reminders and also, parents reminders on the bags that were given out today," said Felica Morris, principal of Woodley Elementary School. "And we just hope that all the boys and girls stay safe."

Schwartz will hand out more safety bags in Tupelo and Colulmbus Wednesday.
