Midtown construction still on schedule

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Developer Rob Tatum with CR Properties tell us that construction on the Midtown project is right on schedule.

“We've worked through a lot of rainy days," Tatum said. "I think we had about 80-plus rainy days over the summer. We will actually be ahead of our scheduled completion."

Tatum said that thanks to the dry weather, they’ve made progress on the project. He said they’ve started working on the fifth floor of the Hotel Indigo and the second floor of the retail stores.

He said that the west side of the property should be open by the end of the year, while the east side, which will house the retail stores and the hotel, should be open by late April.

“We have several leases that we're working on that we can't announce yet, but we obviously have the restaurants that we announced before,” Tatum said. “We'll have a total of seven restaurants, we'll have a lot of retail options, and, obviously, the Hotel Indigo.”

Instead of apartments, Tatum says they’ve opted to add 12 condominiums that will be placed over the retail stores.

As far as the city, they say they're finished with all water and sewer maintenance.

“The city is out of our way," Tatum said. "We've connected our sewer and water to the west side of the property. We still have paving to do to finish that out. But we feel really good about opening the west side by the end of the year.”
