Hometown couple announces pregnancy

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

There is a new Hometown HGTV star in Laurel, and the Pine Belt can't wait to meet her.

Ben and Erin Napier of Laurel and the hit HGTV show Hometown announced on their blog that they are expecting their first child.

Erin eloquently explained the fear and excitement that overwhelmed her once she found out she was pregnant.

"I ran crying, falling onto Ben who was sound asleep. I couldn’t think of anything to say. I just held out the test to him, shaking and crying, “What does this mean? What does this mean?” though I knew perfectly well what it meant," Erin wrote in her blog.

Ben was, as always, supportive and perfect in his response.

"Everything is going to be great," Ben said in Erin's post.

Erin announced that she chose to keep the pregnancy secret, but whispers around town and a now-noticeable belly prompted the announcement.

"It’s the way life goes, the way the family tree changes and grows, and I’m grateful to be part of it, this completely, utterly normal part of life that for so long felt too big and too scary for me to do.  Normal has been a luxury," Erin said in her blog.

Erin is now seven months pregnant, and will be having a girl named after her grandmother.

"My prayer for Helen is that she will be brave and kind. I pray that she will not be bullied the way I was, and that she will be a protector of the ones who are," Erin said in her blog.
