HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg church is reaching out to show support for local first responders.

Saturday, Westminster Presbyterian Church hosted its annual First Responders Pancake Breakfast.

Firefighters, emergency medical technicians, police officers and their families were invited.

Organizers said they host the event to say thank you to those who protect the community.

"It's really just a way to highlight the work that they do in our community, to be able to say thank you to them," said Mike Anderson, interim pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

"It's a good feeling, it's a blessing, so to speak, that they're willing to do this for us," said Lt. Jimmy Morgan of the Hattiesburg Fire Department.

This was the second year for the event.
