Lumberton High School went into lockdown on Friday morning after receiving a call that referred to a shooting that would occur at the school.
The school received the call at approximately 9:00 a.m., according to a press release from the Lumberton Public School District. The school implemented their lockdown procedures and notified law enforcement.
Lumberton police, the Lamar County Sheriff's Office and Lamar County School Police responded to the scene and determined that the threat was made by a student at the school. According to the school district, the student was identified and is currently custody.
It is believed that it was just a threat and that no plans for the shooting were made, and the school lockdown has since been lifted.
