HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A Hattiesburg couple is behind bars after a disturbance call led police to a handcuffed man.

Coche Gilbert, 67, and his wife, Evelyn Gilbert, 65, were arrested by Hattiesburg police Tuesday afternoon and each charged with one count of abuse-neglect of a vulnerable adult.

According to Hattiesburg Police Lt. Latosha Myers-Mitchell, officers responded to a home in the 400 block of Mable Street around 3 p.m. for a disturbance call.

"When officers arrived, they made contact with a man who was locked in a room, restrained by handcuffs," said Myers Mitchell. "The man had several injuries and wounds from bite marks and the restraints."

The man was treated at the scene by emergency personnel according to detectives.
