Lumberton Police need help identifying drive-by shooting suspect

LUMBERTON, MS (WDAM) - Lumberton Police are actively investigating and trying to find the person responsible for a drive by shooting back in August, and urge anyone with information to come forward.

"It was on the seventh day of August 2017, right around 10 p.m. at night," Chief Shane Flynt said.

A car drove by and shot at a residence on the 800 block of Oak Street.
"They shot into the residence several times with a high caliber weapon," Flynt said. "According to witnesses, the car was occupied two to three times. The subjects stopped in front of the residence, opened fire, firing anywhere from eight to 10 shots."

Multiple rounds were fired, hitting the front door and outside brick. Flynt said some of the deadly metal made its way inside the occupied home. Witnesses described the car as a white, four-door car.

"We are needing someone to step forward who has some information and someone who is willing to help us in this matter,"  Flynt said.

If you have any information on this drive by shooting, you are asked to call Metro Crimestoppers at 601-582-7867.

"We want to re-assure our town and surrounding areas that we're here to keep this town safe and that activities like this will not be tolerated," Flynt added. "It's going to be fully investigated. We are not going to stop until we make an arrest."
