Taylorsville, MS (WDAM) - Former Taylorsville Tartar Billy Hamilton was in town on Friday night to watch his alma mater defeat Lumberton 48-22.
Hamilton just wrapped up his fifth season with Major League Baseball's Cincinnati Reds, batting .247 with a .299 on-base percentage.
The speed Hamilton was known for in Taylorsville has translated to the major leagues. The 27-year-old stole 59 bases this season, second in the MLB only to Miami's Dee Gordon (60).
Hamilton finished second in the majors in steals each of the last three seasons (56, 57 and 58, respectively). Earlier this year, Hamilton became the fourth-fastest player to reach 200 career steals (424 games).
