HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Oktoberfest will celebrate its 39th year Saturday, and organizers say rain or shine the event will carry-on just like always.
The annual gathering is held at the Saint johns Lutheran church located on Hardy Street.
"We've got over 700 pounds of German potato salad and 500 pounds of sauerkraut and bratwurst and we just cannot store that," Warner Boortz, parishioner, St. john Lutheran Church said. "We're going to go on, hopefully be able to sell it all."
The festival starts at 10:30 a.m. and will continue until about 4 o'clock.
There are some other events such as the Loblolly festival in Laurel and Hattiesburg's Southern Fried Pride that also plan to carry-on.
