Lamar Co. Board of Supervisors declare state of emergency ahead of Nate

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The Lamar County Board of Supervisors have adopted a resolution to declare a state of emergency for the county. 

The board met Friday morning where they voted 5-0 to declare the state of emergency. 

This will allow the county to use resources, equipment, and funds during and after the storm. 

The National Weather Service has issued watches and warnings for the following counties in the WDAM viewing area.

A Tropical Storm Watch is now in effect for Forrest, Jones, Lamar, Perry, Wayne and Pearl River counties until further notice.

A Hurricane Watch has been issued for Pearl River county until further notice.

A Hurricane Warning has been issued for Stone and George counties until further notice.
