JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Volunteer firefighters battled an early morning blaze at a home just outside the Laurel city limits Thursday.
Firefighters with Glade, Powers and M&M Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene of the structure fire on Highway 15 South around 7 a.m.
Initially, firefighters were advised that smoke was showing, but it was soon declared that the home was fully involved, according to the Jones County Fire Council.
Firefighters got the fire under control within an hour, but the home was severely damaged by flames, smoke and water.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Jones County Fire Investigator.
Emergency personnel on scene included Glade, Powers and M&M Volunteer Fire Departments, Jones County Sheriff's Department and Jones County Fire Public Information Officer. Dixie Electric was also called to the scene.
