LSU head coach Ed Orgeron previewed the upcoming game against Mississippi State during his weekly news conference at 12:30 p.m. Monday.
He also recapped Saturday night's 45-10 win over Chattanooga.
Orgeron said linebacker Arden Key has been cleared to play in the game Saturday. He added Key is currently at 265 pounds and the coaches would like to get him down to 260 or even 255.
However, he started off thanking fans for the great, electric atmosphere in Tiger Stadium. Mississippi State said there are some tickets left in the upper deck for LSU game this weekend in Davis Wade Stadium.
Orgeron praised wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph, saying he is doing a great job with the wide outs. He also noted great interceptions by Andraez "Greedy" Williams and Kary Vincent. The defense also racked up five sacks.
He added place kicker Cameron Gamble had five touchbacks, which is something he said the coaching staff would fix and did.
Orgeron said he has the utmost respect for the way Mississippi St. head coach Dan Mullen recruits and the way he runs his program.
He said he doesn't know if defensive end Rashard Lawrence will play this week. He added he doesn't even know if he'll practice this week.
He pointed out wide receiver Stephen Sullivan had a drop in the game against Chattanooga that probably would've been a touchdown. He noted that is the only drop the offense has had.
