Blood Bowl Bash kicks off in Hattiesburg, Laurel

PINE BELT (WDAM) -

The annual WDAM and United Blood Services Blood Bowl Bash kicked on Tuesday in Hattiesburg and Laurel. 

Residents of Hattiesburg and Laurel stopped by Ashley's Furniture Home Store and the Cameron Center to give blood. 

So far, 30 people have donated in Laurel and 18 have donated in Hattiesburg. 

All donors receive a commemorative t-shirt, and a pass for one carload to any Pat Harrison Waterway Park.

Food and drinks will be available for donors as well as entry into hourly door prize drawings from businesses in their community.

A grand prize drawing will also be held for one of two recliners from Ashley HomeStore. 

One donor will be chosen from this event to be a finalist in the dream vacation drawing for a $6,000 travel voucher to the destination of the winner’s choice.

Tuesday, July 25th

Drive hours: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Thursday, July 27th

    Currently, Lumberton High School senior safety C.K. Bowens acts as a de facto coach-on-the-field for Coach Zach Jones’ defense. And if Jones’ has his way, Bowens will become a coach on his staff some day in the future. “Somebody’s fired,” Jones said only half-kidding. “He has a job because I would hire him in a minute. He just has a way of getting his point across and people listen. He’s just a natural leader.”
