(RNN) - Harley-Davidson is recalling as many as 45,589 motorcycles amid concerns that a defect may cause an oil leak.

The problem: A clamp that is supposed to fasten an engine oil cooler line might not have been properly installed.

The oil line may come loose and cause the oil to leak. If undetected, the oil may seep onto the rear tire, causing a hazardous situation that boost the likelihood of a crash.

Customers reported nine instances of the line coming loose, resulting in two crashes, one with minor injuries.

The recall affects 2017 motorcycles manufuctered between June 2, 2016, and May 9, 2017: Electra Glide Ultra Classic (FLHTCU), Police Electra Glide (FLHTP), Police Road King (FLHP), Road King (FLHR), Road King Special (FLHRXS), Street Glide (FLHX), Street Glide Special (FLHXS), Road Glide (FLTRX) and Road Glide Special (FLTRXS).

The motorcycle manufacturer will notify affected customers and replace the clamp free of charge in the recall, which is expected to start Tuesday.

For more information, contact Harley-Davidson at 1-800-258-2464 and refer to recall 0170.
