HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Pine Belt families put on their party hats and said Happy Birthday to the Hattiesburg Zoo Saturday.

The Zoo celebrated its 67th anniversary with a Birthday Bash.

Birthday cake was provided and guided tours were offered.

There were several scavenger hunts and also science experiments conducted at the flamingo pavilion and the Asbury Discovery Center.

"The overall improvement at the zoo, even within the last ten years has been remarkable," said Stephen Taylor, animal care manager at the Hattiesburg Zoo. "And it's all thanks to the guests coming out and enjoying the zoo themselves. We couldn't do without them and that's why we're here, we're here to entertain people and educate people about animals and let them know there are a lot of animals out there in this world that people definitely need to learn about."

The Zoo opened in 1950.
