ANDREWS, SC (WCSC) -

A casket floated to the surface at a cemetery in Georgetown County after severe storms hit the area and flooded some neighborhoods.

The casket came out of the ground at the cemetery off of Piney Grove Circle.

Family members say this is the second time this has happened. The first time was when Hurricane Matthew affected the area.

At this point the family says they're not sure what it's going to take to get the casket to stay in the ground, but they are going to do what they can when the water comes down.

"Well it's an eerie feeling in your stomach," said Henry Gibson."Like I was saying earlier when they put him back down last time I know they did a good job. So I don't know why he's coming back up again."

Neighbors in the area also still dealing with flooded streets and yards after severe storms hit the area.

Residents on South Magnolia Avenue say they were surprised to see their neighborhood flooded, a sight that haven't seen since the last hurricane came to South Carolina last year.

Officials say the Andrews area received 7.5 inches of rain overnight and this morning.

Georgetown County government moved to Operating Condition 4 on Monday indicating that they are alert for a possible threat after the severe weather Monday morning.

Rosemary Middle School had been opened as a shelter, but was closed at 5 p.m. since no one showed up.

Officials say crews responded to areas in the county in case any rescues were required.
