With many high school baseball playoff series beginning on Friday, here’s a look at the matchups that are already set around the Pine Belt.

Class 1A - South:

Mount Olive vs. Noxapater

Lumberton vs. French Camp


Sacred Heart vs. Ethel

Game 1 - Friday (7:00)

Game 2 - Saturday (7:00)

Game 3 - Monday (7:00, if necessary)


Stringer vs. Sebastopol

Game 1 - Friday (6:00)

Game 2 - Saturday (3:00 at Sebastopol)

Game 3 - Monday (if necessary)

Class 2A - South:

Richton vs. Pisgah (Friday)

North Forrest vs. St. Joseph Catholic (Friday at 7:00)

Class 3A - South:

West Marion vs. Morton

Game 1 - Friday (6:00)

Class 4A - South:

    As a freshman quarterback playing behind one of the best athletes to come through Columbia Academy in recent years, Thomas Erastus “Ras” Pace got his first career start in what was arguably the Cougars’ biggest game of the 2016 season. “I thought I did a pretty good job handing the ball off,” said Pace of his starting debut in a second-round MAIS AAA playoff game in place of the inured Wiley Cleland.
