JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A one vehicle accident Monday afternoon damaged a power pole which resulted in a temporary loss of power to surrounding homes while the power company repaired the pole.

Shady Grove and Sharon Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene of the accident on Friendship Road off of Houston Road.

Upon arrival, they found a white car down an embankment to the side of the road with damage to its front-end. The male driver of the vehicle appeared to be uninjured and refused transport to the hospital.

Due to a hard impact to the power pole, the pole was leaning and the live power cables were hanging low over the ground, spanning the roadway. A section of Friendship Road was completely shut down as a result.

Emergency personnel on scene included Shady Grove and Sharon Volunteer Fire Departments, EMServ Ambulance Service, Jones County Sheriff's Department and Jones County Fire Public Information Officer Caleb Worrell.
