COVINGTON COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Covington County man is behind bars after being sought by multiple law enforcement agencies since a Tuesday high-speed chase.
Carl Edward Logan, 42, was arrested Saturday morning around 1:30 off Peps Point Road in Forrest County.
"Logan was caught inside a camper trailer that he was renting early this morning by Covington County and Forrest County Deputies and Hattiesburg Police," said Covington County Sheriff's Department Investigator Layne McLaurin.
He was being sought since Tuesday afternoon, after a safety checkpoint in Covington County led to multi-county high-speed chase which ended in Forrest County.
"The suspect stopped at a safety checkpoint at Union Church Road and Marson Trigg Road in Seminary," McLaurin said. "After speaking with the deputies, he took off and headed south down 49."
McLaurin added that the suspect took off Hwy 49 and went into Rawls Springs in Forrest County and ditched the vehicle on a dirt road off Lakewood Loop and fled on foot.
According to McLaurin, Logan has an outstanding warrant out of Jones County for possession of controlled substance.
"I just want to thank all the law enforcement agencies for their help, from Sumrall to Lamar County, to Forrest and MHP and HPD, it all paid off and we have him behind bars," said McLaurin.
Logan will be charged with felony eluding and other traffic violations according to McLaurin, and will also be turned over to Jones County authorities for his outstanding warrant.
