MOSELLE, MS (WDAM) - A Seminary man has been charged with murder after an 11-hour search in Jones County.
Matthew Lee Phillips, 25, of Seminary, has been charged with murder after deputies found a male victim at a residence on Kevin Drive in the Moselle area. According to deputies, the apparent murder had taken place at approximately 8:00 p.m. Friday.
The male victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Details on how the man was murdered have not yet been released.
Authorities say the suspect was quickly determined as Matthew Phillips.
Phillips was taken into custody around 7 a.m. Saturday on Moselle Seminary Road at Monroe Road, according to deputies.
Phillips has been charged with murder and booked into the Jones County Adult Detention Center. Phillips' initial appearance is tentatively scheduled for Monday, April 17, 2017.
Jones County Officials say the investigation is ongoing and more details will be forthcoming.
The victim of the murder has not been identified at this time.
