LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Lamar County teenager died Friday afternoon, after an accident involving a tractor.

According to Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel, deputies responded to the scene in the 100 block of L. Williamson Road in Sumrall around 1:30 p.m.

"We got a report that a 15-year-old male had fallen off a tractor," Rigel said. "There were two juveniles riding on the tractor, one fell off and was run over."

Rigel added that Hickory Grove first responders performed CPR and the teenager was flown to Forrest General Hospital by Rescue 7 air ambulance.

According to Forrest County Deputy Coroner Jonathan Nobles, the teenage died from severe head trauma at Forrest General Hospital.

The name of the teenager is not being released at this time pending the notification of next of kin, according to Nobles.

"We are still investigating it, but it just seems like it's just a tragic accident," Rigel said.
