LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - A Laurel man is behind bars and facing a felony charge in connection to a child exploitation case.
Randal Scott Morris, 33, was arrested at his home Thursday by investigators with the Attorney General's Cyber Crime Unit.
According to a release from the Mississippi Attorney General's Office, Morris was arrested for possession of child pornography and charged with one count of child exploitation.
"Investigators executed a search warrant following an investigation of Morris's online activity, as a result of the search warrant, he was arrested," said Mississippi Attorney General's office PIO Rachael Ring in a written statement.
If convicted, he could face up to 40 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.
"As with all cases, a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law," said Ring in the release.
Morris is currently being housed in the Jones County Jail.
