Forrest General celebrates Organ Donor Day

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Forrest General Hospital celebrated Organ Donor Day with the yearly tradition of raising the donor flag over the hospital.

But, it was the emotional story of a mother, Adrian Murry, who lost her son that stole the show.

When her son, Kendrick Murry, died, she honored his wishes and donated his organs. In return, his organs saved the lives of six people, including Adrian Murry's pastor, who had spent years fighting renal failure.

"You have the opportunity to save someone else and to help someone or someone else family live," Adrian Murry said. "That's what I want people to take from it, to give the life, you can't beat that, it's a good feeling."

It is easy to sign up to be an organ donor. You must be at least 18 years old to register. For more information, click here.
