JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Laurel man has been charged with aggravated assault and felony fleeing after deputies say he chased and shot at his wife on Highway 84 Tuesday.
Jones County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to Highway 84 West in pursuit of Eric Gooden, 31.
Deputies said he was shooting at his wife and was in pursuit of her while traveling from the Big 10 area.
Deputies located the vehicles and pursued Gooden as he refused to yield to law enforcement.
Traveling on Crepe Myrtle Lane, Gooden turned into a driveway across from Calhoun Volunteer Fire Department and drove around the back of the house.
Gooden was apprehended after he tried to leave the vehicle on foot.
When interviewed, the victim reported she and Gooden had gotten into a verbal altercation.
She left the scene of the argument and he chased her, running into her vehicle with his and shooting at her from his vehicle, according to deputies.
The victim's vehicle was hit by a bullet near the bottom of the driver's side door.
The weapon used by the suspect was recovered by Jones County Sheriff's Investigators on the road leading to where Gooden stopped.
Gooden is charged with felony fleeing, domestic aggravated assault and weapon possession by a felon.
His initial appearance at Jones County Justice Court is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on April 12, 2017.
