HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The pieces to the Jefferson Davis County High puzzle continue to be put together. The newly formed school (consolidation of Bassfield and Prentiss) made two big announcements tonight, naming Marcus Luckett girls basketball coach and Tony Woody as boys coach.
Both coaches come to town with impressive coaching resumes.
Luckett coached boys hoops at Morton High this past season, finishing the season at 30-1, losing to East Side in the Class 3A state semifinals. He coached the Newton girls team as well from 2013-2016.
Luckett was also a boys assistant at Wayne County from 2011-13.
Woody spent 19 years at Columbia (nine coaching girls and boys), before taking over to coach the girls and boys programs at Moss Point.
