Robert McCraw, 69, and Teresa Stockman, 54, were both taken into custody Wednesday and charged with domestic violence aggravated assault.
On Wednesday, Jones County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home in reference to an assault. When the deputies arrived, they spoke to McCraw, who was covered in blood and had injuries to his head and elbow.
He told the deputies that him and his girlfriend, Stockman, got into a fight that day. According to JCSD, he said Stockman picked up a dog statue and hit him in the head. At the time, McCraw was checked for his injuries, but refused to be transported to the hospital.
When the deputies questioned Stockman, she was covered in blood and told them it was from McCraw's injuries. She said he fell and injured himself. Stockman was arrested and taken to the Jones County Adult Detention Center. But just after she was taken to the detention center, a corrections officer said Stockman needed to be taken to the hospital because of a stab wound. Stockman said she was stabbed by her boyfriend, McCraw. He was arrested shortly after.
The couple has been released with the case pending presentation to a grand jury. A grand jury will decide whether to indict McCraw and Stockman.
