LIST: School delays for Monday due to severe weather

Several schools have announced delays Monday morning due to severe weather. If you do not see your school on the list contact your school district office or resume activities as normal.

Schools with delayed starts: 

  • All Jones County schools delayed two hours. All bus routes will start 2 hours later.
  • All Laurel schools delayed two hours. All bus routes will start 2 hours later.
  • Laurel Christian school will be delayed two hours
  • St. John's Day School will be delayed two hours
  • 1st Trinity Early Learning Center will be delayed three hours 
  • Lamar Christian will be delayed two hours
  • Sacred Heart will be delayed by two hours. Teachers are to report at 9:30 and Seniors don't report.
  • Petal schools will be delayed two hours.
  • Forrest County schools will be delayed two hours.
  • FCAHS will be delayed two hours.
  • Lamar County schools will be delayed two hours
  • Lumberton schools will be delayed two hours
  • Covington County schools will be delayed two hours
  • All PRCC campuses are delayed until 10 a.m. 
  • CARES school of Hattiesburg delayed two hours
  • Hattiesburg schools delayed. Mary Bethune 9:15 a.m. NR Burger Middle School 9:30 a.m. Burney STEAM Academy 9:40 a.m. All Elementary Schools 10:00 a.m. Hattiesburg High 10:30 a.m. 
  • 3-D School delayed until 10 a.m. 
  • All Presbyterian Christian schools will have a two hour delay
  • Trinity Episcopal Day School delayed until 10:00 a.m.
  • Wayne County schools will be delayed three hours 
  • Benedict Day school will be delayed until 10:00 a.m.
  • TIDE school will be delayed until 10:20 a.m.
  • All Jeff Davis County schools delayed one hour
  • Howard Christian Children's center opening at 10 a.m.
  • Antonelli College delayed until 10:30 a.m. 
  • Columbia Academy delayed until 10:00 a.m.
  • West Point Christian Pre-School delayed two hours
  • Columbia schools delayed two hours
  • Marion County schools delayed two hours
  • East Jasper Schools delayed two hours
  • Healing Touch Career College delayed until 10 a.m.
  • Richton School District delayed two hours
  • Perry County School District delayed two hours. Buses are also delayed two hours and will start running at 8:15
  • Sylva-Bay Academy delayed 2 hours, starting at 10 a.m.
  • All USM campuses and teaching sites in Hattiesburg and on the Gulf Coast will have a delayed start on Monday, beginning operations at 10 a.m.
  • Great Expectations Children Learning Center opening at 9:30 a.m. 
  • USM DuBard school delayed until 10:00 a.m.
  • Word of Faith Academy delayed two hours
  • William Carey University delayed until 10:00 a.m. 
  • Kangaroo Pouch Childcare Center opening at 9:00 a.m. 
  • West Jasper schools delayed by two hours

WDAM checked in with a couple of locally owned shops in Laurel to see what preparations are underway. Emily Green said, "October is really our  behind the scenes month. We have market stuff rolling in and our warehouse is full and we are pricing it. Everything is priced before November ever hits.     Forrest County two-year-old hospitalized after falling into pool

    A Forrest County child was hospitalized after falling into a pool on Thursday morning.  The Forrest County Sheriff's Department received the call at approximately 9:50 a.m. and responded to the scene at the 200 block of Sunrise Grove, according to sheriff's department spokesman Nick Calico.
