HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The "Rise and Shine" Expo was held Friday in the Payne Center at USM.
The expo is a preliminary event promoting health and fitness with local vendors on hand offering their services.
This is the second year that the expo has been held. The Rise and Shine Race is expected to draw over 600 participants from all over the country and is held to benefit The Arc of Southeast Mississippi.
"Hattiesburg Clinic put on the very first half marathon here, it's really good, it's a great thing for Hattiesburg," said Jennifer Clark, Rise & Shine Expo director. "You don't have to go to Jackson, you can come right here and do a half marathon right in Hattiesburg and they're bringing people from outside of Hattiesburg, outside of the state to come run on our roads, which is very cool for Hattiesburg."
The race will be held Saturday morning at 7 at Hattiesburg Clinic, and participants will each receive a piece of pottery made by The Arc members.
