ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - Two Ellisville residents were arrested and charged for utility theft of their blind neighbor, according to police.

Tessa Dehaan 35, and Bryon Jacob Lambert 37 were charged when police said they were caught stealing water from a neighbor at Rocky Creek Trailer Park.

A water hose and a power cord were discovered by The Ellisville Fire Department.

According to police, the cord was running from the neighbor's water supply and outside power outlet to the suspect's residence.

The neighbor is considered a vulnerable adult under Mississippi law due to being a 60-year-old blind lady.

Judge David Lyons set bond for Dehaan and Lambert at $1000 each.

The City of Ellisville released the following statement regarding the incident:

"Taking advantage of someone who cannot take care of themselves is horrible, and we will make sure that any violator will be charged to the full extent of the law."

If found guilty, Dehaan and Lambert will face a fine of $610.00 each, and the enhancement for vulnerable adult will double the fines.
