GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A flurry of activity is underway at Centennial Plaza in Gulfport as work crews and volunteers set up tents, finalize the main stage, and make certain concession areas are in order.

Schedule: MS Bicentennial Celebration South

A late morning storm interrupted the set up for a time. As folks took cover from the rain, strong winds toppled a 20-foot truss onto a car near the front of the chapel building. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Crews are doing their best to work around the scattered stormy weather.

Event chairman George Schlegel said thanks to the hard word of hundreds, this "party of the century" will be a huge success the next two days.
