LUMBERTON, MS (WDAM) -

An old armory in Lumberton will likely become a new location for senior citizens to gather.

A former city-owned armory, which was closed by the National Guard last year, has been given to the county.

Supervisors hope to use it as a place where seniors can get a good meal.

They approved a deal Thursday to trade five acres in the South Lamar Industrial Park and a daycare center for it.

The city will use that land for a boiler repair company that's relocating from Poplarville.

The county is also considering moving the local fire department into the back of the building and using part of it as a storm shelter.
