WAYNESBORO, MS (WDAM) - The Waynesboro Police Department has charged a man in connection to a shooting that left one person injured Tuesday.
Police arrested Kiandric Rayshon Ward, 22, and charged him with aggravated assault. Ward made his initial appearance in court Thursday, where a judge set his bond at $40,000.
The shooting happened Tuesday afternoon at a home on Barnett Street. When officers arrived on scene, the victim had been shot in the chest. The victim ran to Charles Street, and once officers caught up with him, they gave him medical attention. The victim was airlifted to a hospital in Jackson, according to Wayne County Sheriff Jody Ashley.
According to earlier reports, the victim was a Mississippi Department of Corrections parolee.
Police placed the hospital on lockdown as standard procedure. The victim is currently at a Jackson hospital and is listed in critical condition, according to police. The victim's name is not being released at this time.
Police are looking for two other suspects that were involved in the shooting.
