LUMBERTON, MS (WDAM) - Thousands of people are gathered in Lumberton this week to recreate life in Europe hundreds of years ago.

It is all part of Gulf Wars XXVI at Kings Arrow Ranch.

The event features camping, music, arts and crafts and other aspects of life from approximately 600-1600 A.D.

It is one of four similar events held around the country each year.

"We recreate what the Middle Ages should have been," said Travis Gates, a Gulf Wars participant from Hot Springs, Arkansas. "We actually understand the basic concepts of chivalry, loyalty, honor, respect."

"It is a group of people from all over the world who come together in fellowship and love of the Middle Ages and all aspects of it," said Charmaine Allen, another participant from Atlanta, Georgia.

The annual gathering began in 1991. Others take place in Arizona, Kansas and Pennsylvania.

It wraps up this weekend.
