JCJC, William Carey head to national tournaments

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Jones County Junior College has two basketball teams represented in the NJCAA championships starting Monday, March 20.

After winning the region 23 title for the second time in program history, the ninth-seed JCJC men (28-1) face No. 24 Caldwell Tech (North Carolina) on Monday at noon. The Bobcats won the 2014 NJCAA title.

In their first-ever appearance in the National tournament, the 13-seed Lady Bobcats (28-1) meet 20-seed Western Nebraska on Monday at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, William Carey basketball arrived in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday in preparation for the NAIA tournament. The Crusaders play Westmont (California) in the opening round on Thursday at 10:45 a.m.

The 2017 SSAC regular season champs, William Carey (24-7) has earned a berth in the NAIA tournament four of the last five seasons.
